Pro Bono Activities at Pfeifer Law, PLLC

We at Pfeifer Law, PLLC feel very blessed that so many in the community support us and allow us the privilege of serving them with their elder law, estate planning and Medicaid needs. We feel that it is important to give back to the community. That is why we encourage our attorneys and staff members to engage in charitable activities. Our staff and attorneys are given time off for that purpose.

In April 2016, our paralegal, Gloria Olin, spent the day assisting The Inn, located in Hempstead, New York, by helping to serve individuals lunch. Gloria found this to be a very rewarding experience. In addition to helping other people, she was able to utilize her Spanish language skills.

On May 9, 2016, one of our partners, Michael L. Pfeifer, spent the day at Nassau Suffolk Law Services providing pro bono legal services for their clients. Michael enjoyed being part of an effort to serve those who cannot afford legal services. Michael assists the attorneys at Nassau Suffolk Law Services by drafting legal documents, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney and health care proxies. Michael also serves as a consultant to the Nassau Suffolk Law Services attorneys when they have complex legal matters that they want to bounce off of another attorney. Michael’s decades of experience as an elder law and estate planning attorney helps him to provide these pro bono services. Michael intends to continue assisting Nassau Suffolk Law Services in fulfilling its mission.

On June 1, 2016,  Michael L. Pfeifer participated in the Nassau County Bar Association (NCBA) blood drive by donating a pint of blood.  According to Steven M. Raiser, Esq., who wrote the email asking for donners on behalf of the NCBA, “The NY Blood Center is in desperately in need of blood donations and is literally begging us to make a big push for donors.  Blood donations are at the lowest level they have been at this time of year for many years, and they are very worried about the diminished supply available to them.”  If you can give blood, you may call the New York Blood Center at 800-933-2566 for more information.

Every month, Michael L. Pfeifer continues to provide pro bono legal services to persons of modest means and serves as pro bono legal counsel to various not-for-profit organizations and charities regarding Medicaid law, probate, estate administration and charitable planning matters. In addition, he assists with the pro bono mortgage foreclosure clinic and the senior clinic of the Nassau County Bar Association.
